Gaganyaan, India’s maiden human space flight, targeted for launch in 2024- Newslength


New Delhi: Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh on Wednesday (December 21, 2022) stated that India’s maiden human area flight ‘Gaganyaan’ is focused to be launched within the fourth quarter of 2024.

In a written reply to a query within the Lok Sabha, Singh, the Union Minister of State (Unbiased Cost) Science & Know-how, stated that in view of the paramount significance of crew security, two check automobile missions are deliberate earlier than the Gaganyaan mission.

The check automobile missions will display the efficiency of the crew escape system and parachute-based deceleration system for various flight situations. 

The uncrewed Gaganyaan mission is focused to be launched within the final quarter of 2023 adopted by the second uncrewed mission within the second quarter of 2024, earlier than the ultimate human area flight within the fourth quarter of 2024, Singh stated.

He stated the primary uncrewed flight of the Gaganyaan programme is aimed toward validating the efficiency of Human rated launch automobile, Orbital module propulsion system, mission administration, communication system and restoration operations.

The mission will carry a humanoid as a payload.

The Minister knowledgeable that the astronaut designates for human area flight mission are recognized and are at present present process their mission-specific coaching at Bengaluru.

The primary semester of Astronaut coaching has been accomplished whereby they’ve undergone course modules on Theoretical fundamentals, House drugs, Launch automobiles, spacecraft system and floor assist infrastructure.

“Regular physical fitness sessions, aeromedical training and flying practice are also part of crew training. Corresponding evaluation and assessment activities have also been completed. The second semester of crew training is currently in progress,” he added.
